Explanation
い-adjectives end in い and conjugate: negative = drop い + くない, past = drop い + かった.
Formation: い adjectives end in い. Negative: drop い and add くない (高い becomes 高くない). Past: drop い and add かった (高かった). Past negative: くなかった. Te-form: くて (高くて). Adverb: く (高く).
Usage & nuance: い adjectives describe qualities directly, and they conjugate by themselves, so 高いです already means is expensive without needing だ. They modify nouns directly (高い山) and can join clauses with the くて form (安くておいしい).
Compare: い adjectives vs な adjectives. い adjectives carry the い inside them and drop it to conjugate, while な adjectives keep a stable base and need な before a noun (静かな部屋) and で to join clauses (静かできれい).
